The life of the Rodriguez’s, a Mexican American family living in a small home in Baldwin Park California, twenty miles East of Los Angeles, is confronted by a changing neighborhood, illness, and family traditions which add to difficult decisions they must consider as life moves forward.
Edward, determined to move on from his troubled past, lands a major grant to create his first art exhibition. With the support of his best friend, Patricia, he dives into the production and execution of the project. However, the process forces Edward to confront his lingering demons. Among them is his ex-fiancée, Lane, who once left him with a painful "Brokeback Mountain deal" and now returns with a new, more urgent offer. Lane, facing a terminal cancer diagnosis, extends a peace offering that could help Edward heal and reconnect with his chosen family.
